The emergence of diffused gamma-ray burst afterglows from the discs of active galactic nuclei

چکیده

ABSTRACT The discs of active galactic nuclei (AGNs) have emerged as rich environments for the production and capture stars compact objects that they leave behind. These produce long gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) at their deaths, while frequent interactions among form binary neutron star–black hole binaries, leading to short GRBs upon merger. Predicting properties these transients emerge from dense AGN is key proper identification better constrain star object population in discs. Some would appear unusual because take place much higher densities than interstellar medium. Others, which are subject this paper, additionally be modified by radiation diffusion, since generated within optically thick regions accretion Here, we compute GRB afterglow light curves diffused sources a representative variety central black masses disc locations. We find radio ultraviolet soft X-rays can strongly suppressed synchrotron self-absorption medium disc. In addition, photon diffusion significantly delay emergence emission peak, turning beamed, fast transient into slow, isotropic, dimmer one. broad-band correlated variability with dominance frequencies. Their both stellar populations structure.

Gamma-Ray Burst Afterglows

Extended, fading emissions in multi-wavelength are observed following Gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). Recent broadband observational campaigns led by the Swift Observatory reveal rich features of these GRB afterglows. Here we review the latest observational progress and discuss the theoretical implications for understanding the central engine, composition, and geometric configuration of GRB jets, as w...

Gamma-Ray Burst Early Afterglows

The successful launch and operation of NASA’s Swift Gamma-Ray Burst Explorer open a new era for the multi-wavelength study of the very early afterglow phase of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). GRB early afterglow information is essential to explore the unknown physical composition of GRB jets, the link between the prompt γ-ray emission and the afterglow emission, the GRB central engine activity, as wel...

Pulsed Gamma-Ray-Burst Afterglows

The bipolarity of Supernova 1987A can be understood in terms of its very early light curve as observed from the CTIO 0.4-m telescope, as well as the IUE FES, and the slightly later speckle observations of the “Mystery Spot” by two groups. These observations imply a highly directional beam of light and jet of particles, with initial collimation factors in excess of 104, velocities in excess of 0...

The Correlation of Gamma - Ray Bursts with Active Galactic Nuclei

We search for angular correlation of gamma-ray bursts with cataloged quasars, BL Lac objects, and AGN using a large sample of relatively well-localized bursts detected by WATCH on board GRANAT and EURECA, IPN, and BATSE (327 bursts total). A statistically significant (99.99% confidence) correlation between GRB and MB < −21 AGN in the redshift range 0.1 < z < 0.32 is found. The correlation with ...
